NEW! Eviction Moratorium Extended:  Although the eviction moratorium has been extended until January 15, 2022, tenants at risk of eviction due to financial hardship caused by COVID should apply immediately for New York State Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) funds. Assistance is also available for landlords. Get more information and apply through the online portal.  For more information on the New York State Eviction Moratorium, helpful links and FAQ, visit NYS Homes and Community Renewal

Emergency Rental Assistance Program:  New York State is now accepting applications for significant financial assistance for low- and moderate-income renters who are behind on rent and utility payments due to COVID. Benefits include: up to 12 months of rental arrears payments for rents accrued on or after March 13, 2020; up to 3 months of additional rental assistance if the household is expected to spend 30% or more of their gross monthly income to pay for rent; up to 12 months of electric or gas utility arrears payments for arrears that have accrued on or after March 13, 2020. 

Tenants and landlords who need information, access to the portal, and support, may contact Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties for assistance and support.  They can be reached Monday-Friday from 8:30AM-4:30PM at 607.432.0061, 607.287.3209 (Alexis) or at 176 Main Street in Oneonta. Assistance with the portal is also available by calling the New York State Help Line: 844.NY1.RENT or 844.691.7368. The Help Line is open Monday-Saturday 8:00AM-7:00PM.
